GENIUS
About the project.
The GENIUS project aims to integrate, evaluate, and showcase advanced 5G/6G technologies in automated transportation and logistics applications. Areas such as ports, airports, and urban settings are expected to see substantial benefits for environmental, societal, and economic sustainability.
To ensure the results are statistically significant and applicable across the logistics industry, three trial sites have been chosen: the Port of Barcelona, the Airport of Athens, and the City of Aveiro. These sites are not isolated sectors but represent key areas within logistics, covering maritime, air, and urban multimodal operations.
The GENIUS consortium includes partners from 6 countries, actively involved in standards development organizations (SDOs), ensuring project results align with current standards and increasing the likelihood of acceptance and influence on SDOs and pre-standardization working groups (WGs).
The project's global approach focuses on building strong relationships with carefully selected SDOs that align with GENIUS's goals and offer the greatest potential impact.

Design of Sustainable and Scalable 6G Infrastructures
Design and deploy modular, scalable 6G infrastructures that support edge-cloud continuum, NTN, and V2X integration, focusing on energy-efficient and future-proof deployments.
Demonstration and Validation of Advanced 6G Use Cases
Develop and test six 6G-enabled use cases for automated logistics at ports, airports, and urban areas, leveraging capabilities such as ultra-low latency, AI-driven orchestration, and extensive connectivity.
Integration and Operational Validation of 6G Technology Enablers
Practically integrate and validate cutting-edge 6G enablers within live logistics scenarios, evaluating their impact on service performance, automation levels, and operational resilience using KPI/KVI-driven methodologies.
Creation of Viable Business Models
Develop and validate innovative business models that demonstrate economic viability and sustainability within logistics ecosystems, validated through large-scale pilots and informed by real-world use-case deployments.
